Where are the bitches?

What do Sami Brady, Nicole Walker, and Phyllis Newman have in common? When pregnancy occured, they became boring.

How many more kids is Sami Brady (Days of Our Lives) going to pop out? If she continues at this rate, she will be complete with a prarie dress and living on a compound with her husband and his multiple other wives. Nicole Walker (Days of Our Lives) is another one. She used to be so much fun! She was the anti mom. She was a gold-digging, booze guzzling, horny, former porn star that couldn't have cared less about having kids. She was the complete opposite of most of Days of Our Lives' female characters. What did they do to her? They made the awful choice of making her pregnant and actually changing completely. Who watches a soap opera for a woman lying around reading books about pregnancy? BORING! As my friend suggested, it would have been much more entertaining for Nicole to be pregnant and maintain her old personality. It would have been hilarious actually.

The other character that took the from bitch to boring in .5 seconds route is Phyllis Newman (The Young and the Restless.) Phyllis was an impulsive (very Sami Brady like) schemer. Pretty much everyone in town had some sort of beef with her. She was a fiery, fierce redhead that you didn't want to mess with. Then she had the affair and got pregnant with Summer. Remember when Summer was referred to as "The one in pink?" Gag! I still cringe thinking about how annoying that phrase was. Thankfully, the kid actually has a name now. I actually read an interview where Michelle Stafford (Phyllis) stated that she enjoys playing Phyllis the way she is now more than when she was a bad girl. Are you fucking kidding me? She sucks now! She said something about her "evolving and growing as a person" or some bullshit and how fans can never expect her to return to her former ways. Wow, do we have a lot to look forward to. I hope Michelle realizes this isn't the way to make the fans start enjoying Phyllis again. Why can't soaps incorporate motherhood without changing the character completely? I actually get pissed when I find out a character is pregnant. It means all interesting stories are going to be gone for a while. The only character I can think of that has managed to maintain her sense of self while pregnant is Chloe (The Young and the Restless.) Let's see how she acts once the kid pops out.
